Who we are and what we do
The Commercial Services Office (CSO) manages the services offered to businesses by the University and acts as the gateway to the University for Business. CSO’s primary role is to focus on forming and developing links between the University with enterprise and the public sector (this sector remains our largest client base). This is undertaken via an experienced team of 25 who break down into three areas – Business Services (for training and consultancy), Knowledge Transfer and Finance. High quality service provision is at the heart of CSO’s work – to both its internal and external clients. This is monitored by our firm belief in and adherence to the revised ISO9001:2008 accreditation.
Commercial activities that operation through CSO include training, consultancy, innovation and technology/knowledge transfer. the training portfolio is diverse; it covers management development, project management, purchasing and supply and quality management. Consultancy activity is wide ranging – clients include public sector organiations through to small SME’s. The Knowledge Transfer team engage with this same audience, developing long term working relationships for mutual advantage and strategic benefits.

UGCS Ltd., is ISO 9001:2000 accredited. ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It provides UGCS with a framework and set of principles that ensure a common sense approach to the management of the business activities to consistently achieve customer satisfaction. UGCS Ltd., is currently working to the new ISO 9001:2008 standards.
It is our company policy that work produced for our customers always meets their specifications. The checks and reviews built into our procedures are designed to ensure that this is the case. The ISO general operating procedures for corrective and preventive action addresses:-
any formal, written client complaint or
any incident of work, which ahs been completed and passed all internal checks and verifications, which is found not to the agreed contract requirements or
when audits have revealed serious inadequacies in systems or procedures.
