Business Innovation @ Glamorgan

The University has a strong tradition of providing solutions for industry and responding to the needs of business. Through the development of world class research and facilities, the University has the capability to apply itself to solving problems and developing innovative ideas and technologies. Our aim is to contribute to the economic and social well-being of Wales and the UK through an approach of mutually beneficial partnerships and knowledge exchange.
Commercialising Research and Technology
The Commercial Services Office commercialises research in a number of ways:
- Establishing spin-out companies which frequently retain close links to the university
- Licensing the use of our technologies to a third party
- Utilising joint ventures to develop technology further
CSO identifies and protects Intellectual Property arising from research and work with partners and investors to progress commercialisation. Around 20 new IP disclosures are received each year from academics in a wide variety of research areas. The Research Portal details priorities and research groups at the University.
Useful resources on the creation and protection of Intellectual Property can be found on the Welsh Government’s Innovation website
Student Enterprise
The University offers a range of initiatives to promote entrepreneurship to students and recent graduates. The University’s Business Incubator, GTI , provides a professional office environment for start-up businesses and links to other business support in Wales and advice on starting your own business.
